Tile Cleaning and Calcium Removal

Calcium removal and tile cleaning at the waterline, plus pressure washing for the deck.

Chapter 01

Why Phoenix-area water leaves a white line

The water in the Phoenix area is hard, and the desert sun pulls a lot of it off the pool every week. Evaporation takes the water and leaves the minerals behind, and they settle on the tile at the waterline as a white, crusty band of calcium scale.

It shows up on pools across Paradise Valley, Scottsdale and Carefree, on glass and mosaic tile, on spa walls and on stone coping. Left alone it thickens, and a light haze becomes a hard crust that brushing alone will not move.

Tile cleaning and calcium removal

Lakeside offers tile cleaning and calcium removal for pools where the scale has built up past what routine brushing can handle. The tile material decides the method: glass, porcelain and natural stone each take different handling, and the aim is to lift the scale without scratching the surface.

The weekly visit is what keeps this from coming back fast. Brushing the walls and tile line is on the checklist for every visit, and a tile line that gets brushed each week collects scale more slowly than one that is left for months. Tony's crew logs it in the emailed report along with the rest of the visit.

Chapter 03

Pressure washing decks and coping

The water line is not the only place the pool shows its age. Dust, monsoon grime and splash-line mineral stains build up on the deck and the coping, and pressure washing takes them off travertine, pavers, flagstone and concrete.

Lakeside pressure washes the deck as part of keeping a pool looking cared for. Ask Tony about it at (480) 363-6158, ROC 350584, and he will tell you what your surface can take.
