Drain and wash
Acid Wash and Chlorine Wash
Draining and washing the pool shell when stains and scale have gone past what brushing can reach.
Chapter 01
A drain and acid wash, or a chlorine wash
Brushing and good chemistry handle most of what a pool throws at its surface. A wash is for what they cannot reach: stains, mineral scale and algae that have set into the plaster and stayed there through weeks of normal service.
A chlorine wash is the lighter of the two and fits algae and organic staining. A drain and acid wash goes further and is the answer when scale and deep stains are what is left. Which one a pool needs comes down to what the surface shows, and Tony makes that call at the pool in Paradise Valley, Scottsdale or Carefree, not from a phone description.

What the drained shell shows
An empty pool tells you things the water hides. Cracks, scale lines at the old waterline, stains below the surface and the condition of fittings are all easy to see with the water gone, and easier to document with photos for the owner.
It is also the best moment to look at the equipment that lives in and around the shell. Light niches, returns, skimmer throats and the main drain are open to inspection, and anything that needs repair is easier to reach with no water in the way. Lakeside repairs and replaces pool equipment, so a problem found while the pool is empty can be dealt with in the same visit plan.
Chapter 03
Refilling and starting the water back up
Once the shell is washed, the pool is rinsed and refilled, the pump and filter are started, and the water is balanced. A freshly washed surface is bare, so the first stretch of balanced water and regular brushing matters.
Nobody can promise how long plaster will last, and Lakeside does not try to. What the work does is give the surface a clean start and leave you with a clear picture of its condition. After that, weekly service takes over, with brushing, balancing and an emailed report after each visit. Questions go to Tony at (480) 363-6158.
