Green to clean

Green Pool Cleanup

Green to clean: taking a murky pool back to clear water, then keeping it there.

Chapter 01

Why a North Valley pool turns green

Green water is algae, and the North Valley gives it plenty to work with. Summer heat warms the water and speeds growth, and a monsoon storm can load a pool with dust, leaves and debris overnight, using up the chlorine that was holding things in check.

It also happens quietly. A missed week of service, a pump that stopped running or a filter that is past due can all tip a pool, and from the yard it looks like it happened in a day. Green pool cleanups are one of the services Lakeside lists by name, across Paradise Valley, Scottsdale and Carefree.

The cleanup sequence

The order matters. The walls and steps get brushed so the algae is loose in the water, the debris comes out, and then the water is shocked and balanced so the sanitizer can do its work. Nothing gets dosed by guess; the water is tested first.

The filter is the part people forget. It catches what the shock kills, so it gets run and cleaned, and the pool is vacuumed once the water starts to turn. A green pool can ask for the filter to be cleaned more than once before the water is truly clear.

If the pool went green because of equipment, a weak pump or a filter that is not doing its job, that gets looked at too. Lakeside repairs and replaces pumps and filters, so the cause gets fixed and not just the color.

Chapter 03

Keeping it clear afterwards

A cleanup gets the pool back. Weekly service keeps it there. Every visit brushes the walls and tile line, skims, empties the baskets, balances pH and chlorine, checks filter pressure and checks the equipment, so the small problems get caught before the water changes color.

After each visit the service report is emailed to you with photos, so you can see the pool without standing at the gate. Call Tony at (480) 363-6158 if your pool is green today.

“Thank you Tony for clear explanations and actual photos of the maintenance you perform.” Bert Honigman, Desert Hills, Google review
